On March 19, 2012, The Virginia State Board of Elections launched a new online application for candidates and political committees to file campaign finance reports. Committee Electronic Tracking - known as COMET- replaces the desktop VAFiling software, which has been in use since 1999. All candidates and PACs can begin using COMET immediately. E-Filers who do not use third-party software must use COMET to prepare and submit their next scheduled campaign finance reports. VAFiling reports will no longer be accepted for reports due in 2012 and beyond.

IMPORTANT:

Committees who are switching from VAFiling to COMET MUST complete and submit a NEW Statement of Organization in COMET before you can begin entering your transactions. Existing committees are NOT required to sign and submit a paper version of the Statement of Organization UNLESS you are changing information that is currently on file with SBE or your local board (e.g. Name or Address of Treasurer). SBE is standing by to "Accept" your new committee as soon after you submit your committee's Statement of Organization.
